Yellowstone Falls Quilt

I’m so excited to finally release the Yellowstone Falls quilt pattern! My husband and I visited Yellowstone in 2017 when I was pregnant with our first baby, and it was such a gorgeous and inspiring place. I’ve been wanting to create a Yellowstone inspired pattern for some time, but it took a while to get it just right! I wanted to make sure that I really captured the sense of depth and complexity with the layered hills and mountains, while still creating a design that was actually doable.

This pattern comes together quicker than expected in my experience, but there are a couple of tricky blocks! I suggested you read and watch the resources below to ensure that you have the best experience putting this quilt together.

First and foremost, the Sun Block is one of the more challenging pieces of this quilt. To ensure you sew the triangles on just right to match your points, check out the video below for a tutorial that covers some possible pitfalls and how to best trim your block. Check back soon for an additional video demonstrating the Waterfall Block as well!

If you’re new to sewing curves, the post below can help get you started!

If you’re new to Half-Rectangle Triangles, make sure you check out the post below to understand how to sew and trim them as HRTs are a bit different when it comes to trimming.

My editor and testers were such an invaluable part of the process of this pattern, as it was quite tricky to write and refine. Check out their versions below:

This version uses Fableism Chambrey for a sweet pastel quilt - I can only imagine how soft it is!

I love how Ilana used an ombre fabric for the sun, and how cute are those goldfish in the waterfall?

And finally, Jessica used a cheerful palette to create this gorgeous version!
